This semester, Monash University is partnering with the GetGreen app to support students to take simple, practical sustainability actions on campus.
Simply download the GetGreen app and complete dedicated Monash sustainability actions — simple things you can do on campus to reduce waste, save energy, and support a more sustainable uni community.
Every action earns you leaves. The more you do, the more you earn!

Some actions take just a few minutes, while others encourage you to build habits over time.
Rewards & recognition
Earn 30 Leaves
Receive a digital Sustainability Ambassador certificate at the end of the program you can use on LinkedIn, your resume or portfolio.
Earn 50 Leaves
Go into the draw to win an eco-sustainability prize pack valued at over $100.
Prize packs may include sustainable products, vouchers, and Monash-aligned goodies.
Collect the most amount of leaves
Win a $250 eco-sustainability prize pack featuring Monash goodies and a Red Cross op shop voucher!

No, the GetGreen app is free to download and use.

From O‑Week for 14 weeks across Semester 2, 2026.
What kind of actions will I be asked to do?
Actions focus on everyday sustainability on campus, such as:
- Waste and recycling
- Food and composting
- Transport choices
- Energy and water use
- Learning about Monash sustainability initiatives
How do leaves work?
Every completed action earns you leaves. Different actions may earn different numbers of leaves. Your total leaf count determines prize eligibility and recognition.
Do I have to complete every action?
No. You can complete as many or as few actions as you like. The more you do, the more leaves you earn.
How do I enter the prize draw?
If you earn over 50 leaves by the end of the challenge, you’ll automatically be entered into the prize draw.
When will prizes be drawn?
Prize draws will take place after the challenge ends. Winners will be contacted via email.
What is the Sustainability Ambassador badge?
Students who earn over 30 leaves will receive:
- A digital certificate
- A digital badge confirming their Sustainability Ambassador status
Will this appear on my academic transcript?
No. This is an extracurricular recognition, not an assessed academic activity.
What if I stop using the app halfway through?
That’s okay. You’ll keep any leaves you’ve already earned, but may not reach prize or recognition thresholds.
Is my data safe?
GetGreen follows standard privacy and data protection practices. Your data will only be used to deliver the challenge and evaluate the program.
How do I join a focus group?
Eligible students will receive an invitation through the app later in the semester. Participation is optional and incentivised.
